Example: a short MP3 transcript

00:00

Speaker 1Welcome back to the show. Today we're talking about how small teams plan a product launch.

00:07

Speaker 2Thanks for having me. I'll say up front: most of our launches started with a spreadsheet, not a strategy.

00:15

Speaker 1That sounds honest. So walk me through the very first one.

00:19

Speaker 2Sure. It was 2019, we had three people and a deadline that was frankly a guess.

Convert MP3 audio file to text in three steps

Drag the MP3 into the upload box above or pick it from your device. Files up to 30 minutes need no account and no card.

Transcription starts right after the upload. The result is split into segments, each with a start time and a speaker label, so you can jump straight to the part you need.

Fix names or terms in the editor, then download TXT for plain text, or SRT and VTT if you want subtitles. With Pro you can also export DOCX, PDF or Markdown.

Does MP3 bitrate affect the transcript?

Less than most people expect. Speech recognition needs the frequencies of the human voice, and a 64 kbps mono MP3 usually keeps them clear. Distance from the microphone, background noise, echo and people talking over each other matter far more.

Very low bitrates can smear consonants and make names harder to recognise. If that's the only copy you have, upload it as it is: re-encoding to a higher bitrate makes the file bigger but cannot bring lost detail back.
