  • For channel meetings, open the channel's Files and the Recordings folder in SharePoint
  • Choose Download to save the MP4
  • Upload the MP4 here and download the transcript as TXT, SRT or VTT

Can you transcribe a Teams meeting without recording?

Teams has its own transcription that can run without a video recording, if your organisation allows it. The other route is the browser extension, which shows live captions in Teams on the web while the meeting runs, without a bot joining.

In both cases, tell participants that the meeting is being transcribed.

How to record and transcribe on Teams

In the meeting, open More actions and choose Record and transcribe, then Start recording. After the meeting, the MP4 appears in the chat and in OneDrive or SharePoint. Download it and upload it here for an editable transcript with timestamps.

With Pro you get a summary, chapters and action items, DOCX, PDF and Markdown export, and translation. Files are never used to train models and are deleted after your chosen retention period.
